There were several points made that I found particularly interesting, especially when I could relate to the statements made about the general public affected by pirated films and music. Walter Benjamin’s idea of the ‘loss of aura’ in relation the to the decay of the quality of the experience was something that summed up a lot of the ideas talked about. The fact that the majority of us are over-stimulated by the excess of noise is crazy. I could relate to a lot of what was being said but this idea made me think a lot about how much over-stimulated I am with sound. Living in the city, constantly hearing noise and listening to music whenever possible makes moments of complete silence a very rare and unusual experience.
